As early as 1931, Franz Eggler showed courage and foresight when, despite the economic crisis, he had the Arlberghaus in Zürs built in the form of a modern timber construction. He was also one of the ski pioneers in the construction of Austria's first ski lift. Erika Eggler ran the newly created business centre with heart and soul from 1948 until after her 85th birthday. Her husband, Karl Eggler, a trained master photographer, built the first professional colour laboratory in the whole of Austria in the Arlberghaus in the 1950s!
