Sustainability throughout the house

Electricity from photovoltaics

Like many leading sustainable hotels, the Arlberghaus harnesses solar power. Since 2013, our photovoltaic system on the roof has been supplying clean electricity to the entire hotel. Interestingly, the highest yields occur during the winter months, when the low sun hits the panels at the perfect angle, powering your stay with green energy even during peak ski season.

 

Biomass heating plant in Zürs

Since 2010, the Arlberghaus has been a proud customer and shareholder of the Zürs biomass heating plant. Thomas Eggler, one of the project’s initiators and managing directors, is particularly proud that the plant saves up to 1.6 million litres of heating oil each year. Instead of fossil fuels, CO2-neutral wood chips sourced from within a 200 km radius provide sustainable heating, keeping the added value local.

Additionally, David Eggler has collaborated with the biomass plant to launch the innovative züres.net project, further enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability in the region.

 

Zürs water

Clean, high-quality water is an essential part of a healthy stay. The Arlberghaus is proud to offer the best natural mountain water directly from the taps, free of any chlorination.

This tradition dates back to Karl Eggler, David’s grandfather, who was the chairman of the Zürs water cooperative. Today, Thomas Eggler continues this legacy, ensuring every guest benefits from the purest drinking water, straight from the mountains, every single day.
